Pierce Brosnan’s Wife Keely Celebrates ‘Lucky Day’ They Met 30 Years Ago: ‘My Destiny Was About to Change’
The couple, who have been married for 22 years, first met at a party in Mexico in 1994
Keely Shaye Brosnan is reminiscing about the “lucky day” she met husband Pierce Brosnan back in 1994.
In an Instagram post on April 9, Keely, 60, recalled the life-changing moment as she celebrated the 30th anniversary of their first meeting at a party in Mexico.
“4-8-94 was my lucky day. How could I have know [sic] as I walked around the corner and into your life that my destiny was about to change forever?” She wrote alongside a series of photos of the couple through the years.
“Thanking my lucky stars that I had the courage to introduce myself to you and forever grateful for the connection and family we share 3 decades later,” Keely continued. “Happy 30th Anniversary! @piercebrosnanofficial ✨. Time flys [sic] on love’s wings.”
The actor, 70, left a sweet note for his wife in the comments of the post: “Thank God for you my dear Keely, you have given me wings to fly. Love you dearly.”
The couple also received well-wishes and messages of congratulations from a number of their celebrity friends including Jane Seymour, Rosanna Arquette and Linda Thompson.
In a 2021 interview with PEOPLE, Keely recalled her first impression of Pierce when they met on that fateful day in Mexico. “He was captivating,” she said. “Tall, dark and handsome — everything that everybody would immediately be attracted to. He had this mischievous sparkle in his eyes. I thought, ‘Wow! Wow!’ ”
Just days later, the pair had their first date, and Keely remembered sitting “under the stars” and holding Pierce’s hand while they “talked until 3 in the morning.”
“I understand why women find him sexy, because he is an appealing man. He really likes and appreciates women,” she told PEOPLE at the time.
Back in December, Pierce opened up about the couple’s 22-year marriage, describing it as a “spiritual journey.” The pair tied the knot in August 2001 and went on to welcome two sons together — Dylan, 27, and Paris, 23.

“We like each other a lot. We love each other a lot,” Pierce told Fox News of how they’ve managed to keep the spark alive between them for all these years. “And we’ve been down the road, and we’ve seen many, many hardships as families do, as we all do.”
“But watching someone grow up with you and grow old with you is a very spiritual journey,” he continued of Keely. “To watch each other change … whatever it may be, the hair, the waist. But it’s the love in the heart.”
Pierce also praised his wife for supporting his Hollywood career, which has often taken him away from home to take on film shoots for long periods. “She allows me to go out into the wild blue yonder and do what I do as a man, as an actor — [she] always has,” he told Fox News.
“Keely is a journalist, a reporter. She’s an artist in her own right. And as a woman, she has made a family for our sons,” he added, also crediting her for being a loving mother to their children.
